Leichhardt Historical Journal

$8.00 and $4.00 +$7.50 postage

Published over more than three decades between 1971 and 2007, the Leichhardt Historical Journal (LHJ) remains an important repository of historical research relating to the suburbs of the former Leichhardt Municipal Council: Annandale, Balmain, Birchgrove, Glebe, Leichhardt, Lilyfield, and Rozelle.

Of such importance is the LHJ to local historians that Inner West Council provides scanned copies on its website (www.innerwest.nsw.gov.au/our-community-history/history-blogs-and-journals). However, the Balmain Association, as co-publisher of many of the 25 volumes, still holds stocks for those who would like hardcopy for their bookshelves.

Specific volumes may be of particular interest, e.g. for house history research, by virtue of the articles contained therein. In particular, the research by Peter Reynolds on the development of East Balmain is spread over many volumes. Please consult the link above for details of contents, number of pages, publication date, etc.

Volumes 11, 12, 13, and 15 are spiral bound. Price $4. Limited stock remains.

Volumes 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 22 are bound. Priced to sell at $8. Reasonable stocks remain except for Vols. 16 and 22. Most copies show slight yellowing of the cover.

The cover of Vol. 17 (left) shows Easton Park Hotel, formerly Flood’s Hotel, in all its glory, c1930. Its remains can be found on the corner of Lilyfield Rd and Gordon St, Rozelle, between Easton Park and the Rozelle Parklands.

Softcover, A4 format.
