George Stewart, 1984.

In the foreword, the author writes:
“A hundred years is a long time in the life of any Australian enterprise. In this country, in 1984, there are few commercial or cultural organizations that have lived that long. There are only a handful of sporting bodies that have reached the century. Balmain Club is notable in that it is the first Swimming Club to reach one hundred.”

The club is intimately associated with the historic Elkington Park Baths, later renamed Dawn Fraser Pool in honour of the Balmain Olympic champion.
